Emma Magdalina Painter (nee Rood) on Wednesday, September 12, 2012. Age 77. Wife of 54 years to Paul Price Painter, Jr. Mother of Paul Price Painter, III; Emma Magdaline Painter; Lillian Mary Saxon; and Sarah Louise O’Brien. Grandmother of Ashley Painter; Paul Painter, IV; Robert Painter; Kyle Saxon; Matthew O’Brien; and Elizabeth Saxon. Great-grandmother of Melanie Painter.

Born in Amsterdam, NY and raised in Canajoharie, NY, Emma was a resident of Clayton for the past 54 years. After graduating from Canajoharie High School, she proudly served in the US Army as a Medical Corpsman before marrying her husband Paul. Emma had been the Social Worker for the Borough of Clayton for over 30 years. She was a member of the Hardingville Bible Church, a current member and past president of the Clayton Board of Education, a member of the Women’s Army Corps, and a member of the Clayton Fire Auxiliary. She was also an organist and Sunday School teacher, a Girl Scout Leader, and a former PTA president. Emma volunteered with the Salvation Army and the Red Cross. She played the piano, enjoyed crocheting, and baking cakes.

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Monday, September 17, 2012 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Hardingville Bible Church, 284 Whig Lane, Monroeville, NJ 08343. Funeral service at 11:00 AM at the church. Interment Hillcrest Memorial Park, Hurffville. In lieu of flowers, monetary or food contributions may be made to the Clayton Food Bank, Clayton Borough Hall, 125 N. Delsea Drive, Clayton, NJ 08312.
